Week 1

  • Who you are:  Graham Herman
  • What program you're in: Graphic Design
    Hello m
y name is Graham Herman. I attended the art institute  to get my AA in graphic design. I have been a creative individual since I was a child. Growing up I would draw a lot. Mainly characters  from Mad magazine and other comics. When I reached my teens I found  graffiti. Being a bit of a rebellious youth I embraced it. Still today I enjoy the art and culture very muchMy parents didn’t want me to get into trouble so they introduced me to other mediums. This led to me learning how to use an airbrush. I was given this as a alternative too spray paint. This became another thing I have great passion for.  As I became more rebellious the  adults in my life got worried I would not finish high school. This led to an opportunity to learn a trade. I went to Sno-Isle vocational school my junior and senior year in high school. I learned the trade of offset printing and some basic graphic design. The first time I used a offset press I was hooked. I have had a deep passion for printing ever since.   As the years went on I offset printing has slowly died out. This made it hard to find steady work.  I worked as a delivery driver for a few years but got burned out. I really missed having a job that was creative. I also missed the pride of making a unique product. The last print shop I had worked at had a high end clientalI was always proud of our product My hours got reduced there and I was forced to get another job. I started delivery driving not being happy doing this I went back to a small print shop and started school. I have learned a lot here and hope I can get back into a creative field again.

  3. I wish I knew more about printing! My passion is in the print form of design, but I feel that I sounds like an idiot when I talk to the professionals at the print shop. Have you ever done letterpress?

    1. I have never ran letterpress but have been around many. I usually run small duplicators or digital.
